Worked in a subtle palette of coloured silks including crimsons, greens, rust, blues, black and light brown, designed with a central medallion surrounded by carnation-type floral sprays radiating outwards, within a narrow border of floral motifs surrounded by a second band of floral sprays edged by a further narrow border all around, no backing, bearing a fabric label to one corner verso, 'Ganeshi Lall & Son, Jewellers & Embroiderers, Agra, Simla and 7 Esplanade, Calcutta No 48, Ank 280'.

Ganeshi Lall was established in 1845 and the Ganeshi Lall Emporium can still be visited today.

Suzanis (literally 'needleys' as the Persian word 'susan' meant needle) were hand embroidered textiles made in sections (each worked by a different female member of the family or tribe) and joined together to make a large panel. They are thought to have been made for young brides and had a variety of uses within the yurts of the nomadic tribes of Central Asia, particularly Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
