A table runner of 17th century tapestry border, circa 1680

REF: 5065

Woven in coloured wools and composed of fragments historically pieced together, backed with modern woven wool and edged with 18th century fringed metallic braid.

The 'bead and reel' ornamentation, tantalising portion of a tulip, and muted palette of the design are highly reminiscent of borders found on many of the tapestries produced by the Mortlake Tapestry Factory, England in the latter part of the 17th century
