Of dove-tailed construction, with an arrangement of seven drawers around a small cupboard, all inlaid with a design of landscapes containing ruins, later sympathetically set on an Edwardian tall mahogany stand. Height including stand 101.7cm.

This type of cabinet with its skillful marquetry originated from Augsburg, Germany, in the 16th century. At this time it would have been a luxury item used as a storage cabinet for precious belongings and confidential papers.
