A rare Elizabeth I walnut, chestnut and Japanned table cabinet, circa 1580-1600

Having a hinged canted top, enclosing a well, the geometric applied frieze unusually decorated in gilt, with two resting stags against a black ground, the lockable fall-front again with applied elongated-pyramidal mouldings, opening to reveal an interior of five small drawers with geometric and landscape decoration against a vermillion ground. Further painted landscape decoration to the sides.
