A fine Charles II needlework picture, circa 1670

Designed with finely dressed figures within a landscape, together with numerous animals, flowers, fruiting trees, insects, a pond and a walled castle, embroidered with coloured silks and rose-silver thread on linen canvas in tent stitch, the bushes and tree trunks worked in raised coiled and crinkled silk pile, the collars and cuffs worked in detached needlepoint lace stitches, mica fragments used for the castle windows partly remain. Framed and glazed.
