A mid-18th century silk needlework picture

Depicting Christ in his childhood home, his mother looking up from her sewing as Joseph and Jesus play, the tools of the carpenter's trade neatly arrayed at one end of the room, above an embroidered Latin inscription 'Mutuus inter S. Josephum et Jesum Amor', referring to the mutual love and co-operation shared by the two. Ebonised frame with gilt-moulded slip, glazed.
