Worked in fine wool thread, the outlines in stem stitch with decorative details in a variety of stitches on a cream linen twill ground designed with an abundance of birds, animals and botanical motifs including hound, leopard, hare, parrot, elephant carrying a castle, pomegranate, daffodil, harebell, aquilegia, lily, the whole panel comprising historically joined sections, probably using recuperated parts of a bed hanging or cover, backed and edged with linen
