Designed with a straight-sided scroll-carved shield with folded-leaf base, centred with the initials 'I B' tied by a lovers' knot, all within a punch-decorated roundel, with pointed-leaf and berry spandrels.
See a drawing of similar design by Hans Holbein the Younger (1497/8-1543), in the British Museum Collection, London (no. SL,5308.79), circa 1533, depicting the initials of Henry VIII and Anne Bolyen.
