A rare mid-16th century oak panel carved with Noah's ark, circa 1550
REF: 3538
Carved in high-relief, the ark is of rounded form, characteristic of early depictions, the ramp and entrance door for the paired animals visible, and a dove, with olive branch, flying above, symbolising the flood waters subsiding and it will soon be safe for Noah, his family and animals to return to dry land (Genesis 8:10-11).
