An impressive pair of late 16th century carved walnut lions, circa 1600

Each recumbent, one front paw resting on a sphere, snarling mouth and flowing mane.
Comparable features, namely the face and treatment of the mane are highly similar to the 'Medici Lions', a pair of marble sculptres, one Roman and the other a 16th century pendant, Loggia dei Lanzi, Florence.
